Christmas time!

The first day off school was awesome: we have never experienced so much snow!

O primeiro dia de ferias foi belissimo: nunca tinhamos tido tanta neve!

My son made a big snow ball,

O meu filho fez uma bola de neve enorme,

...and many smaller ones to throw...
e muitas bolas pequenas para nos acertar...

It is hard to runaway in the snow, but my sweet daughter was there to save me.
Nao e facil fugir na neve, valeu-me a minha filhota que me defendeu.

eh eh... Got'ya!...
eh eh... apanhei-te!

We made snow angels.
Fizemos anjos de neve.

And our cat was crazily running around in the snow.
E a gata fartou-se de correr na neve.

My hubby and our daughter were out playing in the snow from sunrise till they were called for lunch! They build a nice snow "Fort" to defend from the enemies. (It actually lasted for almost the whole week!).
Pai e filha vieram para a rua quando o Sol nasceu e so foram para casa quando os chamei para almocar! Depois de muito brincar, construiram um "Forte" de neve. (Na verdade este "Forte" aguentou-se sem se derreter durante quase uma semana!).

This year we had our Nativity: My cousin made out of clay the three figures Maria, Joseph and Jesus (click on the photo to see the details). We completed the scene with figures we had in our house. How do you like it?
Este ano fizemos um presepio: a minha primita moldou as tres figuras Maria, Jose e Jesus (clique na foto para ver os pormenores) e nos resolvemos completar com figuras que existiam ca em casa. Gostam?

Christmas dinner the way my son planned a few years ago, which became our family tradition.
O jantar da noite de Natal, conforme planeado pelo meu filho ha alguns anos atras e que passou a ser a tradicao da nossa familia.

Santa was thoughtful, he brought the "wizardry" book my son really wanted!
O Pai Natal trouxe o livro sobre "Feiticeiros" que o meu filho queria!

And to make Christmas really really special, grandparents and uncle John made it through the rain and icy cold weather to join us and celebrate.

Apesar do mau tempo de chuva e gelo, os avos e o tio John viajaram para passar o Natal connosco.

White Christmas?

Well, probably not but we are having a white weekend before Christmas!
Today it was the last day of school.
Bem, provavelmente o nosso Natal nao vai ser "branco" mas estamos a ter um fim-de-semana antes do Natal branco.
Hoje foi o ultimo dia de escola.

The kids had a great time celebrating the holidays with some crafts,..

And school was dismissed two hours early because of the ice and snow!

E a escola fechou duas horas mais cedo por causa do gelo e da neve!

What a great way to start the holidays!
We have been wishing for snow since... I guess since the school started, if you ask my kids...

"Furminator"

Hello!
If you do not have a cat (or even if you do) you might not have heard of the fabulous "Furminator". What is it? The name says it all...
Ola!
Se nao tem um gato (ou mesmo se tem) provavelmente nunca ouviu falar do "Furminator". O que e? Bom, se traduzir o nome literalmente diria "pelominador", isto e, exterminador de pelo.

Here is the "Furminator" and the fur product of a first round on my cat. Basically it is a metal comb that picks up the loose fur as you comb your cat. Pretty cool?

Aqui esta, juntamente ao produto de uma primeira aplicacao. E um pente de metal que remove o pelo solto quando penteamos o gato. O que acham?

And here she is, probably thinking "what are you doing with my Winter coat?" Rightly so, but she is a indoors cat, does not need that extra coat which sticks to almost everything in the house.

Aqui esta a minha gata, provavelmente a pensar "que estas tu a fazer com o meu casaco de Inverno?" Tem razao, mas como esta sempre em casa nao precisa de se agasalhar e larga o agasalho por todo o lado na casa.

Well, not too bad. Here we are in the middle of a second round. She is comfortably sitting on my lap, after a nice treat...

Tudo bem. Aqui estamos no meio de uma segunda penteadela. Ela esta muito confortavel ao meu colo, depois de ter comido uma pequena goluseima...

And let's look at some crafts: my daughter and her class made cute and sweet gingerbread man houses.

Agora vou mostrar-vos alguns trabalhos engracados: a minha filha na escola fez uma casa para o "boneco de gengibre" que e uma bolacha tipica da estacao festiva.

I made a card and knitted some presents.

Eu fiz um postal e algumas prendas de malha e crochet.

Eh eh... you have never seen me wearing glasses? My daughter likes to take pictures and she caught me threading a needle.

It was Thanksgiving and the family came over to celebrate.

My son performed quite well on the test of Tae Kwon Do and went up the next level.

O meu filho teve uma boa actuacao no teste de Tae Kwon Do a passou para o nivel seguinte.

This is the family's new toy! There hasn't been a single person who, noticing the irregularly shaped wooden blocs resists to building something with them. This here is a "turkey" built by my son.

Este e o novo brinquedo da familia. Todos aqueles que reparam nos blocos de madeira de formas irregulares nao resistem a tentar construir algo. Esta construccao foi feita pelo meu filho: e um peru.

Wow: it is fun, specially if you have your rain boots on.

Ah, that was my Lemon Verbena, which I hid from the frost.
Ah, era o meu Limonete que eu protegi da geada.

...and these are the only flowers it produced this year. Hopefully it will survive the Winter and will produce many more next Spring.

...e estas sao as unicas flores que ele produziu este ano. Se conseguir sobreviver este Inverno, ha-de prodizir muitas mais na proxima Primavera.

Wonder why some labels are so enticing to me? And yes, each one of us now sleep in his own set of cozy flannel bedsheets.

Faz alguma ideia da razao para que algumas etiquetas imediatamente me atraiam?... Sim, nao resisti e agora cada um de nos dorme quentinho nos seus lencois de flanela.

We went to the Farm with my daughters class!

Fomos visitar uma Quinta com os alunos da classe da minha filha!

Among many farm activities, the kids collected the chicken eggs.

Entre as actividades em que experimentaram varios trabalhos da quinta relacionados com os animais, os miudos foram recolher os ovos das galinhas.

Above all, they build up friendship ties having fun together.

Acima de tudo, as criancas tiveram oportunidade de construir lacos de amizade.

"Hey, I school is cool".
"Hey, escola e mesmo fixe".

There also was a Field Day with lots of games!

Depois houve o "Dia de Campo" com varios jogos divertidos.

Halloween at school: no costumes, just another opportunity to do fun stuff and enjoy sharing with the friends.

Halloween na escola: sem disfarces, so mais uma oportunidade para fazer coisas divertidas e partilhar com os amigos.

Do you know her?
Let me introduce you to our possible (not yet confirmed) new addition to our home. She was meowing near our house Wednesday night. We brought her in, gave her some milk and spread the word so the owner could pick her up. Well, while waiting we are getting to enjoy her company. Her first name was "meow" but as she started to show a more a normal playful kitty behavior we started calling her "Tiger". (oh, watch out if you walk into our house: she might "grab your leg").

Conhecem?
Apresento-vos uma possivel (ainda nao esta confirmada) adicao para a nossa casa. Encontramo-la a miar na quarta-feira a noite a miar ao pe da nossa casa. Trouxemo-la para dentro, demos-lhe leite e espalhamos noticia para que o dono a viesse buscar. Enquanto esperamos ela vai-se incorporando nas nossas vidas... Primeiro chamamos-lhe "miau" porque a encontramos a miar. Mas agora ela ja esta a mostrar um comportamento brincalhao e entao achamos que merecia outro nome: "Tiger". (cuidado, se entrar na nossa casa ela pode muito bem agarrar-lhe uma perna).
