It is so nice to walk home after a school day.

We can play with friends on the playground...
Podemos brincar com amigos no parque...

...or just read a favorite book.
... ou ler com prazer um livro.

On rainy days, we play in the rainwater.
Nos dias de chuva brincamos na agua acumulada.

Wow: it is fun, specially if you have your rain boots on.

Yupi: e mesmo divertido, especialmente com botas-da-chuva.

Ah, that was my Lemon Verbena, which I hid from the frost.
Ah, era o meu Limonete que eu protegi da geada.

...and these are the only flowers it produced this year. Hopefully it will survive the Winter and will produce many more next Spring.

...e estas sao as unicas flores que ele produziu este ano. Se conseguir sobreviver este Inverno, ha-de prodizir muitas mais na proxima Primavera.

Wonder why some labels are so enticing to me? And yes, each one of us now sleep in his own set of cozy flannel bedsheets.

Faz alguma ideia da razao para que algumas etiquetas imediatamente me atraiam?... Sim, nao resisti e agora cada um de nos dorme quentinho nos seus lencois de flanela.

We went to the Farm with my daughters class!

Fomos visitar uma Quinta com os alunos da classe da minha filha!

Among many farm activities, the kids collected the chicken eggs.

Entre as actividades em que experimentaram varios trabalhos da quinta relacionados com os animais, os miudos foram recolher os ovos das galinhas.

Above all, they build up friendship ties having fun together.

Acima de tudo, as criancas tiveram oportunidade de construir lacos de amizade.

"Hey, I school is cool".
"Hey, escola e mesmo fixe".

There also was a Field Day with lots of games!

Depois houve o "Dia de Campo" com varios jogos divertidos.

Halloween at school: no costumes, just another opportunity to do fun stuff and enjoy sharing with the friends.

Halloween na escola: sem disfarces, so mais uma oportunidade para fazer coisas divertidas e partilhar com os amigos.

Do you know her?
Let me introduce you to our possible (not yet confirmed) new addition to our home. She was meowing near our house Wednesday night. We brought her in, gave her some milk and spread the word so the owner could pick her up. Well, while waiting we are getting to enjoy her company. Her first name was "meow" but as she started to show a more a normal playful kitty behavior we started calling her "Tiger". (oh, watch out if you walk into our house: she might "grab your leg").

Conhecem?
Apresento-vos uma possivel (ainda nao esta confirmada) adicao para a nossa casa. Encontramo-la a miar na quarta-feira a noite a miar ao pe da nossa casa. Trouxemo-la para dentro, demos-lhe leite e espalhamos noticia para que o dono a viesse buscar. Enquanto esperamos ela vai-se incorporando nas nossas vidas... Primeiro chamamos-lhe "miau" porque a encontramos a miar. Mas agora ela ja esta a mostrar um comportamento brincalhao e entao achamos que merecia outro nome: "Tiger". (cuidado, se entrar na nossa casa ela pode muito bem agarrar-lhe uma perna).

School!

Hi!
It has been almost two months since school started. We all are getting settled in the new routine and all is going really well.
Ola!
A escola ja comecou ha quase dois meses. A nossa nova rotina esta a ficar bem estabelecida e tudo esta a correr lindamente.

This was on the first day of school. My daughter was quite excited, it was a new school for her. My son was more like "OK, it's back to the old same thing, what's to be excited about????...." but he was very happy when he saw his buddies in his classroom and in fact he ended up realizing that it was not really like "the old same thing", not even for him...

No primeiro dia a minha filha estava mesmo entusiasmada, para ela era o comeco numa nova escola. O meu filho estava aparentemente indiferente "OK, estamos de volta a mesma coisa, qual a razao de tanto aparato?... mas ficou mesmo contente de ver que os seus melhores amigos iam estar com ele e de facto ele acabou por verificar que tambem para ele nao ia ser a mesma coisa dos anos anteriores...

On the way back from school we usually "decompress" at the playground with some friends.
No caminho para casa geralmente relaxamos a brincar no parque com alguns amigos.

There was a long weekend and our family went to the Springs with some friends.
It was fun...
Num fim-de-semana mais comprido, a nossa familia juntamente com uma familia nossa amiga foi visitar umas nascentes de agua.
Foi divertido...

... and very pleasant!

Summer memories

School has started!
But before the school news I want to share some of our memories from Summer:
A escola ja comecou!
Antes de falar da escola vou partilhar algumas das nossas memorias de Verao:
At the farm, we ate some delicious plums and oranges and helped water the cantaloupes and pumpkins.

Na quinta dos avos comemos umas ameixas e laranjas deliciosas e ajudamos a regar os meloes e as aboboras.

In town, enjoying the carroussels.
Na cidade os miudos divertiram-se nos carrosseis e carrinhos de choque.

A great day at the spring's sandy beach, which included a picnic under the trees.
Passamos um dia excelente no parque das nascentes de agua, incluindo um piquenique a sombra das arvores.

A Lego afternoon shared between the cousins.
Uma tarde de Legos com o primo.

Algarve: the beach...
Algarve: a praia...

and the (cold) showers at the campground (there are hot water showers, but they're not any fun...).
e os chuveiros de agua fria no Parque de campismo (ha chuveiros de agua quente, mas estes e que sao divertidos).

On my birthday, with my parents.
No meu dia de aniversario, com os meus pais.

A visit to the "Salinas" (where salt is extracted from salt water).
Fomos visitar as salinas.

...and a boat trip, on the replicate of the boat that used to carry the salt across the river.
...e demos um passeio de barco, uma replica do batel que dantes transportava o sal no rio.
